Whitney Shelton, a historian and historical actress, is a Kindergarten teacher in Magnolia ISD. Come and join us as Whitney presents an original interpretative performance focused on educating the local community about the Underground Railroad in Southeast Texas. Following her performance, Whitney will discuss how enslaved people in our region sought freedom, what their journeys may have looked like, what we know from historical records, and a few first-hand narratives connected to Texas and the Gulf Coast region.
